• Bank statements showing genuine, traceable funds. A common benchmark is AUD 5,000 to 10,000 for a standard holiday, more for longer stays.
• Proof of employment or business in the Philippines, such as a certificate of employment with approved leave, or business registration for the self employed. Freelancers without an ITR can use contracts, invoices and bank inflows instead.
• Ties evidence: family in the Philippines, property, ongoing studies or a job to return to.
• Travel itinerary and accommodation details, and an invitation letter if visiting family or a partner.

How much money should I show in the bank?

The Department of Home Affairs does not publish a fixed amount. A widely used benchmark is AUD 5,000 to 10,000 for a two to four week visit, scaled to your itinerary, plus evidence the money is genuinely yours. Sudden large deposits with no clear source hurt more than a smaller, stable balance helps. If an Australian sponsor is covering costs, include their evidence too.

How long does processing take in 2026?

The Department's July 2026 processing snapshot shows most Tourist stream applications decided within about two to five weeks, with 90 percent decided within 33 days. Apply well before you book flights, and answer any request for further documents quickly.
