Is paying for sponsorship legal in Australia?

No. Australian law prohibits asking for or receiving payment in return for a sponsorship arrangement, and it prohibits workers paying their sponsor's costs such as nomination charges and the Skilling Australians Fund levy. Legitimate charges you may pay are your own visa application charge, currently AUD 4,015 for a Subclass 482 from 1 July 2026, plus your own tests, medicals and professional fees you agreed to in writing.

How do I verify an offer is real?

• Check the company on ABN Lookup and match the name on the contract to the registered entity.
